Abacus Montessori turns 20!

Abacus Montessori is a secular non-denominational school offering authentic Montessori programs from toddlers to Grade 8. Founded in November 2003, Abacus offers an enriched Montessori program that provides students with the foundation for success from September to June and summer camps in July and August. Located at the corner of St. Clair Ave. E and O’ Connor Dr., our campus offers large and bright classrooms with separate spaces for gym and play, both indoors and outdoors. Our hot nutritious lunches offer nutritious nourishment to young growing minds and bodies.

Principal’s Message

High quality Montessori education means your child's day is filled with genuine moments of discovery. Our teachers offer guidance and support with great personal care to ensure that each child gets the attention they need to succeed in every facet of their

education. A Montessori classroom is built for self-exploration - every piece of equipment is self-correcting and the child is given the freedom of choice to work with those materials.

At Abacus, we believe that education doesn't start and end in the classroom. We strive to foster a sense of community among our students, families, and teachers to form a true partnership between home and school and work together to ensure the success of our students.

Our program is focused on nurturing the whole child to ensure that they are confident and well-rounded students. The Montessori method doesn't just offer a tactile means to learn complex principles, it features purposeful activities meant to develop a child's ability to explore and to think for themselves.

Mission

Abacus Montessori practices the philosophy of Maria Montessori, an Italian doctor who, while working with children with physical and mental challenges, closely observed and documented their behavior. This led her to pioneer a method of education that ultimately proved beneficial for all children irrespective of geographical location, socioeconomic status, religion or creed.
Follow the child is our motto at Abacus Montessori. Providing an enriched environment for the development of the whole child is our educational approach.

Our mandate is to encourage a lifelong love of learning by offering our students a quality education that arouses their natural curiosity, compels them to ask questions, and challenges them. We celebrate diversity and believe deeply in the power of community. Inclusion is the driving force behind our active student community.
